Job Description


Sonitrol Security Systems of WNY is looking for an experienced Installation Technician who has excellent communication skills to join our Rochester Technical Team. Our ideal candidate has been working in the industry and has acquired the knowledge of low voltage wiring and service.

Responsibilities:

· Install security alarm equipment, access control and CCTV equipment as per Sonitrol guidelines and/or manufacturer’s recommendations
· Install fire alarm equipment as per NFPA specifications and/or system design provided by Sonitrol Engineering/Sales Department
· Maintain a list of changes to installations in progress, documenting any additional parts or labor needed
· Assist with system programming and configuration
· Thoroughly test all newly installed or repaired systems or devices to the satisfaction of the central station, communicating with the station to ensure the requested signals have been properly received
· Follow all Job-site safety requirements, report any safety issues to Project Manager
· Maintain company vehicle as per manufacturers recommended maintenance schedule
· Maintain proper vehicle inventory
· Promote, encourage and execute teamwork, cooperation and communication with fellow technicians and all other employees
· Participate in on-call service rotation with other technicians

Qualifications

· 3-5 years in a technical capacity installing low voltage equipment required
· High School Diploma or higher
· Hand and power tool use proficiency
· Knowledge of network and IP protocols
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with customers and co-workers
· A valid driver's license and a good driving record
· Ability to run wire and mount devices in a commercial environment
· Must have strong work ethic and be punctual
· Ability to follow directions and work independently or within a team

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and work in a standing position for long periods of time
· Ability to walk in excess of ten thousand steps per day
· Ability to climb ladders, maintaining three points of contact (two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand at all times)
· Ability to lift 75 pounds
· Ability to drive work van to and from job site each day

Specific Physical Tasks

· Loading and unloading of step and extension ladders from roof of work van
· Carrying of ladders, tools and system components between work van and job site
· Installing, removing or adjusting components where needed, this involves work over head level
· Use of hand tools including but not limited to: screwdriver, drill, wire cutters, saw, volt meter etc.
· Use/wearing of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to: lift harness, safety boots, eye protection, ear protection and hard hat
